When I was 7 years old I entered a Disney drawing competition through my school. It was a state wide competition and the prize was to be able to put your drawing on the construction walls that surrounded the Burbank Disney Studios, which were being built at the time.
There was one winner chosen from each grade, at each school, in California. I won for my year, with my drawing of Mickey Mouse.
When I look back at my life as an artist, that was the moment that inspired me to never stop drawing and to keep learning. So for me, it really did start with a mouse 🙂
It’s always a little more special choosing to own an original piece of art… seeing the gloss of the pen, the texture of the pencil, the indentations of the lines on the paper and feeling the love and energy that was put into every inch of the paper is a timeless quality that only exists with the original.
